Need a quick appetizer to bring to a summer soirée? Visit my pantry and you are very likely to find can or two of garbanzo or chickpeas that in minutes can be transformed into a creamy, rich hummus with the pulse of a food processor and a few essential oils.
My recipe will serve a crowd (and skip the toast points) and you really do want to buy or make a big batch of quality pita chips for dipping.
4 - 15 oz cans of garbanzo beans or chickpeas
1 c water
1/2 - 1 t garlic powder
sea salt to taste
2 t toasted sesame oil
1/2 c organic olive oil
10 - 12 drops of Lemon essential oil
2 drops of Cumin essential oil
Drain beans and add to large bowl of food processor with about 1/4 c water - process in batches if you have a smaller processor. Let it run for about a minute, then scrape sides of bowl. Repeat and more of the water until you have a smooth consistency.
Add garlic, a hefty pinch of sea salt (start with 1/2 t and taste before adding more), and sesame oil. Pulse several times to blend thoroughly into your mixture.
Add the essential oils (start with smaller amount if you're not sure about quantities) to the olive oil, give it a gently stir, then pour oils through the feeding tube while running the food processor.
Adjust salt, garlic, and essential oils as needed. Remember, with essential oils, less is more!
Enjoy this hummus with a boost of flavor and health benefits from the Lemon and Cumin essential oils:
Cumin is traditionally used to promote digestive health and circulation. It was used ritually for internal protection and to protect one’s home. Lemon offers antioxidants and immune support; it's also a wonderful detoxifier for natural cleansing.

Castile soap, white vinegar, and essential oils: wintergreen, clove, cinnamon back, and wild orange - that's it! Most household vinegars are pre-diluted with water at 5% acidity and intended for use in recipes. We recommend you use one that is 9% or higher (great for pickling and as a general purpose cleaning additive) - some hardware stores and online retailers offer 20-30% acidity - perfect for our DIY weed killer recipe.

Did you catch our Essential Oils 30/30 last night? It started week 2 of our 30-Day Spring Clean-Cleanse Challenge. Our co-host and certified aromatherapist, Astrid, shared an awesome recipe for an essential oils Body Wrap featuring our favorite Metabolic Blend.
These essential oils work synergistically to offer detoxification and cleansing benefits. And be sure to drink plenty of Lemon water before and after your Body Wrap to ensure proper hydration.

These recipes came from my friend Astrid, a certified aromatherapist and talented eo-mixologist. As you will see, Bergamot is one of her favorites and is an ingredient in all but one of the diffuser blends. You can adjust essential oils or quantities for therapeutic use or personal aromatic preferences.
Astrid didn't name these blends, so try them and come up with your own descriptive name!
Astrid offers insight into her process of selecting the essential oils and also talks about diffuser cleaning.
Whether we are inhaling, applying topically, or taking essential oils internally, they enter the body and have the potential to affect every cell in the body within about 20 minutes and then are metabolized like other nutrients. Pure, therapeutic grade essential oils offer health benefits that most retail store brands do not.
The brand we at santadotfe.com recommend comes from doTERRA. Every batch, every bottle is third-party tested for purity, potency, and therapeutic efficacy. Learn more about essential oils and how to buy doTERRA essential oils at Wholesale prices!

Aromatically, it can help balance emotions, is calming, mood enhancing, and may help with mental clarity. It’s aroma is woodsy, sweet, earthy.

Eucalyptus essential oil--may help reduce inflammation of the skin and it naturally helps clear the airways (helpful during this time of year when seasonal threats are high and we are dealing with congestion). Eucalyptus blends well with Bergamot.
quality matters-use pure, therapeutic grade essential oils
Yes, quality matters. Essential oil and their constituents (and whatever products we apply to our skin) have the potential to affect every cell of the body within 20 minutes. Bargain brands, even when labeled 100% pure, often contain synthetic fillers, additives, and toxins.
We at santadotfe.com only use doTERRA essential oils because we trust their safety, purity, potency, and therapeutic efficacy--and here's why:
doTERRA is committed to sourcing the best essential oils in the world, direct from artisan growers. They are also committed to ethical sourcing practices (that's important to me) through their Co-Impact Sourcing Initiative.
doTERRA essential oils surpass USDA organic standards and each batch, every bottle, undergoes seven different testing procedures by a third-party laboratory. Many experts say they can "smell the difference" right when they take off the lid.
doTERRA is a humanitarian-minded company with many ongoing projects--including earthquake relief in Nepal and Mentors International Micro-Lending--and committed to giving back to the communities that grow and harvest their essential oils.

Soy wax or beeswax
Cinnamon bark, Clove, Wild orange essential oils (or make your own blend)
String for dipping into wax
Colored crayons and salt (optional)
Cut the string long enough to use for dipping the pinecone into the wax and tie a knot at
the top of the pinecone.*
In a double boiler or a metal bowl resting in pot of water, melt enough wax and 2-3 crayons (if you want to add color) to coat your pinecones. Add essential oils
(more drops will make for a stronger the scent ).
Holding the string, dip the pinecones and set them on wax paper to dry. Keep dipping and drying to create a thick layer of wax on the pinecones. If desired, coat with salt immediately after the last wax coat for a natural glitter.
Depending on the salt, the flames of the starters will burn a certain color (Epsom salts,
white flame; table salt, yellow flame; salt substitute, violet flame). *Note: After you are donedipping you pinecone into the wax, leave one inch of wax-covered string to serve as a wick
for easier lighting.

New Mexico peaches are just coming into season. Try this salsa as an side for grilled fish, chicken, or pork. And serve with a few homemade tortilla chips to scoop up every last morsel of summer goodness.
Remember, improvising is half the fun with cooking. Add or substitute chopped mango for the peach. And, pictured below, we garnished with flat leaf parsley (didn't have any fresh cilantro on hand).
3 peaches, diced; optionally, add some chopped mango
2 medium tomatoes, diced
1/2 jalapeno, seeded and fine diced
1 -2 sweet mini red peppers, fine diced
1 -2 green onion shoots, thin sliced - or - about 2 T fine chopped red onion
A few sprigs fresh cilantro, chopped
1 squeeze lime juice or a splash of white wine vinegar
Sea salt to taste
Optional, local honey to taste
2 drops each Lime and Cilantro (optional Ginger) food or therapeutic grade essential oils*
Combine diced peaches (and optional mango), tomato, jalapeno, red pepper, green onion (or red onion), and cilantro. Add the juice or vinegar, salt to taste. Add essential oils (1 drop at a time and taste between additions). Toss all ingredients. Taste and adjust salt, juice or vinegar, and add honey if desired. Let stand for 45 minutes.
The flavor of the essential oils will develop as it stands. Taste again before serving. May be refrigerated or use immediately. Serve as a salsa with homemade chips or as a side to grilled fish, chicken, or pork.
Makes enough to serve as a small portion to 3 or 4.
* Most essential oils available at your natural grocer or health food store are NOT food or therapeutic grade. Be sure to carefully check the label. If it's food grade it will include Supplement Facts and instructions for use internally.

32 oz homemade farmers' market vegetable broth (or store bought chicken or vegetable)
2 c fresh peas
sea salt and pepper to taste

Did you know that the finest Gin is made from Juniper Berry and Bergamot?
Transform this summer cocktail into a healthy elixir by replacing Gin with "Jin" made from Juniper Berry, Lime, and Bergamot essential oils.
The simple aroma of essential oils, straight out of the bottle, can offer mood enhancing benefits. Many of our essential oils, like our featured Juniper Berry, Lime, and Bergamot, are dietary supplements* that may be added to recipes for an amazing boost of flavor while providing support for health body and mind.
The woody, spicy, yet fragrantly fresh aroma of Juniper Berry reveals its rich history of traditional use and health benefits that include: support healthy kidney and urinary tract function, reduces the appearance of skin blemishes, and it's a natural cleansing and detoxifying agent. Juniper Berry supports the digestive system, emotional balance, nervous system, and skin.
The sharp, citrus, smell of Lime positively affects mood with stimulating, refreshing, and internal cleansing properties. Your cup runneth over with Lime's powerful ability to boost flavor while providing antioxidant and healthy immune support.
The aroma is calming, soothing, and may help to boost self confidence. Bergamot supports healthy nervous system, cardiovascular system, and cognitive function.

Promoting vitality and boosting energetic feelings, Cypress essential oil can be used for its aromatic and topical benefits as it promotes vitality and boosts energetic feelings.
Cypress is steam distilled from the leaf of this tall, evergreen tree. It may be used aromatically and topically with no dilution necessary. Our favorite brand, see below, is sourced from Crete.
Aromatically, the clean, fresh aroma of Cypress offers an invigorating and grounding effect on the emotions. Cypress is often the go-to oil to diffuse during times of difficult transition or loss.
topical benefits - a spa in a bottle
It is composed of monoterpenes, which can help improve the appearance of oily skin. Because of the rejuvenating aroma and skin benefits of Cypress, it is commonly used in spas and by massage therapists. Cypress can also give the body an energizing lift when applied topically.
The chemical structure of Cypress essential oil also contributes to its renewing and uplifting fragrance. Its three main chemical components are α-pinene, carene, and limonene. Both limonene and α-pinene are part of the monoterpenes group and offer strong uplifting characteristics. α-pinene is also well known for its powerful renewing properties.

Today, they are being rediscovered and are used in everything from aromatic blends to provide emotional balance, to boost the benefits of skin and haircare products, and even in healthy recipes to support every system of our bodies: immune, cardiovascular, digestive, hormonal, muscles and bones, respiratory, nervous system, . . . (did I miss anything?)
But essential oils are not all created equal. When the plants are grown in their natural environment, nurtured by skilled artisan farmers, harvested in optimal conditions and at just the right time, and then rigorously tested for purity, potency, and and efficacy . . .
the plants produce potent essential oils with powerful therapeutic benefits. When these essential oils are rigorously tested for purity, potency, and efficacy by a trusted source, they are precious gifts of nature.
We have access to the world's best source for pure, therapeutic grade essential oils and it's available to you too - and at wholesale pricing! Please contact Joan at 505-920-2385 or complete the form below to learn more.

Recipe featuring pure, therapeutic grade Vetiver and Wild Orange essential oils
Lassi is a drink popular throughout the Indian subcontinent. It's made with yogurt, spices, and sometimes fruit. A traditional lassi is a savory and often flavored with roasted, ground cumin. Pureed fruit, most often mango, may be added for a "sweet lassi."
Todays lassi recipe is a hybrid. It starts as a Khus Lassi, then we add fresh orange segments, local honey, and touch of "khus syrup." or simple syrup made with pure, culinary grade Vetiver essential oil (recipe included below).
"Khus" is the Hindi name for Vetiver. Traditional khus syrup is made by soaking dry vetiver grass for 12 or more hours then straining to collect the extract. Sugar is then added and the mixture heated on a stove top until the sugar is melted. The syrup can be used to flavor sherbets, milkshakes, yogurts, and ice-creams.
Check out our two easy methods . . .
our two methods
Our two methods are much simpler and doesn't involve shopping for vetiver grass that is free of synthetics, coloring, and preservatives. We substitute the fresh grass with pure, therapeutic (culinary) grade Vetiver essential oils to produce a Khus Syrup or Khus Honey that is good for the digestive system, endocrine system, immune system, nervous system, neurotic and excretory system. It helps to support metabolic function, rejuvenates the body, and boosts immunity.

more about this series
The first 30 min. is essential oils education. We're taking an A-Z approach beginning with the oils that may be used all three ways: Aromatically, Topically, and YES, Internally (with recipes from my cookbook that will be published in early 2018). You will have an opportunity to ask a question, make a comment, or share a story about how you use essential oils.
The second 30 min. is dedicated to Success Training and focused on skills for those who are starting or building an essential oil business.
